After a year of speculation, Snapchat has released “Director Mode” in the form of an editing feature in their app. The software allows anyone to create clean cut and polished videos that are easy to share. These quick tutorials were first used at Rihanna’s Victoria’s Secret show with her “Diamonds” video.
The latest update finally makes it possible for more people to follow their dreams and convert raw footage into professionally crafted content. Snapchat has established itself as a powerful tool for business professionals, but the Director Mode is equally beneficial for the everyday user, no matter what creative direction they are pursuing.
The Director Mode
Director Mode is a new editing tool that only impacts the 1/4 of users who choose to use the app for longer than one or two seconds. The feature allows users to shoot and edit video on their smartphones in a simple and convenient format. It’s as simple as opening Snapchat, recording some footage, and adding filters. The previous version would only allow users to apply filters after they had shot the footage. This limited certain types of artistic expression that may have taken time away from actually taking in the moment. The new update allows for real-time action, allowing videos to be shot using various artistic styles and then edited quickly on-the-fly.
