A neighbor who was unaware of Buster’s name or his awful familial circumstances remarked, “They’re a genuinely wonderful pair.” “They always greet you with a smile.”

The modest one-bedroom apartment on Hilton Head Island that Buster and Brooklynn White, both 26 years old, share with their cherished golden retriever Miller is a long cry from the expansive 1,700-acre hunting property, known as Moselle, where he grew up in Islandton, South Carolina.

Buster Murdaugh Wedding, Shooting Maggie Murdaugh

On June 7, 2021, outside the estate’s dog kennels, Alex, 54, is charged with fatally shooting Maggie Murdaugh, 52, and Paul Murdaugh, 22, Buster’s only sibling.

The stunning double homicide is scheduled for trial against the deceased patriarch on January 23. Buster has persisted in standing by his imprisoned and disbarred father.

On Tuesday morning, Buster arrived outside the apartment in his grey GMC Yukon with a dejected expression, brought a laundry basket inside, and then left.

The house is part of a complex featuring a tennis court, a gym, and a blue Marlin decoration on the front porch.

Buster Murdaugh and White may have started dating at some point, but a source says they went to Paul and Maggie’s combined burial together.

The insider also said she was seen holding her boyfriend’s hand as he sobbed during the service and interacted lovingly with his father.

Little plastic plaques still mark the graves of the murdered mother and boy in Hampton Cemetery more than 17 months after the crimes.

After getting her first job out of law school at Olivetti McCray & Withrow, where she specializes in probate and estate planning, White, who is from Rock Hill, South Carolina, purchased the Hilton Head condo for $180,000 in July 2021.

She respectfully responded to multiple requests for comment Wednesday morning with a simple, “No, ma’am,” declining to comment on her boyfriend’s condition or the lawsuit against his father.

The distance between Buster’s childhood home and the apartment on Hilton Head, a tourist spot renowned for its immaculate beaches and golf courses, is around 70 miles.

Buster, who supposedly was expelled from the University of South Carolina Law School in his second semester for plagiarism, attended the same law school with White, according to the Wall Street Journal.

According to FitsNews, Alex paid a lawyer $60,000 to try to get Buster readmitted.

The news website also revealed that Buster and his lawyer uncle Randolph “Randy” Murdaugh IV attended the annual South Carolina Association for Justice convention in Hilton Head in August.

Since causing a stir in October 2021 when he was seen in public with his uncle, John Marvin Murdaugh, drinking and gambling at The Venetian in Las Vegas, Buster has maintained a low profile.

The federal trial of financier Russell Laffitte began the same week as the most recent Buster sighting, making it the first criminal case resulting from the stunning collapse of the Murdaugh dynasty to go before a jury.

Laffitte, the former CEO of Palmetto State Bank, is accused of assisting Buster Murdaugh in defrauding his personal injury customers of their settlement funds and is also charged with bank fraud, wire fraud, and other offenses.

Despite playing a significant role in that federal case, Alex has not been charged. However, he has been charged in state court with more than 80 counts of financial crimes in relation to the alleged theft of $8.5 million from the settlements of his clients.

On the same day that his wife and son were killed, Alex was first challenged about financial problems at the family’s once-famous personal injury law company, according to prosecutors at Laffitte’s trial on Tuesday.

Alex was fired after the company, formerly known as Peters, Buster Murdaugh, Parker, Eltzroth & Derrick, P.A., accused him of embezzling money.

In a botched assisted suicide attempt that was purportedly intended to leave Buster a $10 million life insurance policy, Alex was shot in the head a few days after losing his job.

The Murdaughs’, a well-known Democratic family, had dominated politics and the judiciary for more than a century. The solicitor, who handles the five counties at the southernmost point of the state, has served as the local prosecutor for four generations.

But in 2019, after Paul was suspected of driving his father’s boat into bridge pilings in Beaufort while intoxicated, killing Mallory Beach, 19, wounding four others, and sparking a string of lawsuits that shed light on Alex’s alleged shady business practices, their influence started to wane.

In the Beach lawsuit, Buster was also named as a defendant for allegedly allowing minor Paul to use his ID to purchase booze for the disastrous watercraft trip. The trial in the civil lawsuit is slated to begin in January.

The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) has reopened inquiries into the enigmatic 2015 death of Stephen smith buster Murdaugh, a classmate of Buster’s with whom he was alleged to be having a covert liaison. This is because of the double homicide.

Authorities also opened a new investigation into the longtime housekeeper of the Murdaughs’ passing in 2018.

This month’s premiere of the HBO documentary “Low Country: the Buster Murdaugh Stephen Smith Dynasty” included a number of jail calls between Alex and his son that were captured at the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center.

One recording features Alex asking Buster if “Brooklynn” received his letter. White addresses Alex as “sir” and speaks to him cordially in a number of the calls that were not seen on the series.

In a subsequent call, Alex implores Buster to visit the Buster Murdaugh property where his mother and brother were fatally shot.

Alex comments, “I believe the dam feeders were full over there at Moselle.” “If you felt like going back there, I bet there are deer all over those things with nothing going on,” I said.

I’m not going hunting out there, Buster responds, sounding uneasy with the suggestion.
