New tool ‘Movetodon’ makes it easier to find your Twitter friends on Mastodon

by Sonal Shukla

Movetodon is a web app designed to help Mastodon users find their friends on Twitter and invite them to join Mastodon. It’s a bit like chatting with your pals, but on the internet! It was inspired by a couple of cases where people wanted to chat with their twitter friends on #matoot without the need for private messages.

We’ve all been there before: someone you know tweets something interesting but you don’t have them added as a friend on Twitter. You’d like to let them know about the post, but you don’t have their username. Or, maybe you’ve found an awesome new Anemone or Mastodon instance but want to let your friends on another platform know about it.

Movetodon lets you search Twitter for people talking about Mastodon or a specific Mastodon instance, then sends them an invite! It’s one way to connect with your friends on Twitter without having to ask for their usernames first.

We at the Hyphae team have been getting some great feedback on this new app, and we’re currently working on improving it. Stay tuned for more updates! –Ludwig Von Clausewitz, creator of Mastodon
