Shahid Kapoor was born on 25 February 1981, is an Indian actor who appears in Hindi films. Initially recognized for portraying romantic roles, he has ventured into action films and thrillers and is the recipient of several awards, including three Filmfare Awards.
The son of actors Pankaj Kapur and Neelima Azeem, Kapoor was born in New Delhi. His parents separated when he was three years old and he continued to live with his mother. When he was 10, he moved to Mumbai, where he joined Shiamak Davar’s dance academy. Kapoor appeared as a background dancer in a few films of the 1990s and was later featured in music videos and television commercials. He made his film debut in 2003 with a leading role in the romantic comedy Ishq Vishk, a sleeper hit for which he won the Filmfare Award for Best Male Debut. She played roles in several commercial failures before starring in Sooraj Barjatya’s top-grossing family drama Vivah (2006).

After coming to Mumbai, Shahid Kapoor joined Rajhans Vidyalaya and completed his secondary education, and graduated from Mithibai College. Simultaneously he enrolled in Shiamak Davar’s dance school. Shahid started working as a background dancer in Hindi films at the Dancing Institute itself. While working in commercials and song videos, he met Rishita Bhatt, whom he briefly dated.
After entering Bollywood, the actor soon started dating his co-star Kareena Kapoor. The couple ended their three-year relationship during the shooting of Jab We Met. The actor also dated Priyanka Chopra for a short time, even though the two never publicly acknowledged their relationship. Since then, Shahid has been linked with several of his co-stars including Vidya Balan, Sonakshi Sinha, and Shraddha Kapoor.
The actor got engaged to Mira Rajput on 14 January 2015, whom he had met with Radha Swami Satsang Beas, a religious group. Mira Rajput, a third-year English (Hons) student from Delhi, is thirteen years younger than Shahid. The couple got married on 7 July 2015 in Delhi.
