YouTube will soon roll out a ‘Go Live Together’ co-streaming feature to select creators

by Sonal Shukla

Recently, YouTube announced they will be rolling out a new co-streaming feature: “Go Live Together”. This new feature will allow up to 4 creators in the same location to broadcast their streams simultaneously. And with the use of a local wireless connection, this number can grow up to 10. “Go Live Together” is designed for creators who want to align their live videos with events for more expansive and intimate experiences like birthdays, game nights, or classroom lessons. As YouTube says on their blog “we’re about bringing people closer together”. youtube free subscribers

This feature is currently only available to a few creators, and will be rolling out working with the team at YouTube.

Thoughts:

I’m glad that this feature is going to be open to more creators. And as I said, it may be a great way for creators of different games, who have similar audiences but don’t tend to get along well in social media, to come together and produce something unique together. I really hope this works out well for everyone involved, because the idea itself sounds like it could be fun, especially if you’re all interacting with your viewers during the stream. So, for now, I’ll be cheering for everyone involved to give it a go and see how it goes.

I’d like to add a few additional thoughts on what I just said. It seems like YouTube is basically saying “We know that people tend to get along better in person than they will on social media” – which I have to say, makes sense! As far as I’m aware, Twitter itself has even acknowledged this many times over the years. I think that this is a good way for users to actually develop some sort of a friendship in real life, and hopefully even maintain it afterwards. So good on you YouTube, for making sure that people who may have never interacted with each other could be brought together through this feature. I’m sure it’ll be interesting to see how ‘Go Live Together’ goes, and hopefully we see some good things come out of it.
