The journalist and writer Josep Ramoneda has criticized the FC Barcelona coach, Xavi Hernández , for the continuous defenses that the former Catalan soccer player has made of the Qatari regime.
Ramoneda has done it during the gathering this Friday in the Hoy por hoy of Cadena Ser, since they have dedicated a block to talk about the World Cup in Qatar that begins this Sunday.
The interventions of the different space collaborators have revolved around the null democratic system that exists in the Asian country and the continuous violations of human rights.
“I am surprised that sensible people like Xavi Hernández, who seems like a reasonable person, feel so trapped by their position and situation that they come to tell these stories. He lived in Qatar and tells how wonderful this country is, that he could leave the door of his house open without having to close it and no one would ever enter, nor would they rob him”, Ramoneda stated.
The communicator has wondered that “how a character like him can say things of this type or that the city is wonderful and that there are many services.”
“Everything is concentrated in a very specific sector of the population. He did not understand this during the time he spent in Qatar, he did not realize that this was for a very few”, he continued, lamenting “a lack of courage to say something” in figures who “have authority” and who are not will touch easily.
Ramoneda wondered if they could risk their prestige a bit, and then he himself answered: “No, I have the feeling that everything goes together. The more one appeals to work harder, this is not so different from what the Qatari authorities demanded of those who built the World Cup states”.
Hernández, while living in Qatar, gave an interview to Diario Ara in which he defended the country’s system: “I don’t live in a democratic country, but I think the system here works better than the one there (in reference to Spain)” .
“Here there are many advantages. Tranquility, security… We don’t have a key to the house, you leave the car running… Núria (his wife) even tells me that if we can continue here it will also be better for our children. Both have been born here. In Qatar people are happy. I am very well here, ”she assured, confessing that she liked the country and that her family was very well there.
