Ear Sticks has a very simple formula: fewer features, more polish. They’re ear plugs with noise canceling technology that are made out of reusable silicone. Plus, they only cost $30 from Amazon — it’s an unheard-of price point for ear plugs. Ear Sticks will definitely appeal to those who want a high-quality product but don’t need extras like Bluetooth or music control.
As expected, their popularity hasn’t gone unnoticed: recently the company was named one of the “Best New Products by Entrepreneur” of 2018.
Yet as much as I appreciated the company’s minimalist offering, there were a few problems.
The Good
First, they’re affordable. For $30 you get 4 pairs of plugs in your favorite colors, plus a storage case that can be used to hold extras when you travel. Shipping is free if you buy 2 or more pairs at once — this is great for travelers who want a variety of colors. (I bought black and blue.)
Second, the product comes with a 30-day money back guarantee. If for any reason you don’t like them, just return them and EarSticks will refund your purchase, less shipping costs.
Finally, the plugs are made from a silicone that is both flexible and durable. It’s pretty much the exact opposite of Waterfi, whose product is rigid and can break easily if dropped.
Ear Sticks are easy to use as well. You simply cut off a piece of the ear plug and put it in your ear. Then, when you want to compress your ear canal (to reduce noise) you squeeze the plug until it shapes around your ear canal. You let go, and it returns to its original shape (which is flat). Ear Sticks come with instructions on how to do this effectively — they’re available on the company’s website in case you need them.
