Ring size is, as the name suggests, the size of a ring that is taken from the customer to fit their finger. It denotes the circumference of the ring that helps in determining the size of the ring. There are many ring size chart available to find and match the perfect ring size for a customer’s finger. The size of the ring can be measured by many tools such as paper, plastic, metal ring sizers, or by using an already fit ring worn by the customer. The ring sticks are a popular tool to measure the size of a ring just as effective as a ring size chart. It is used to measure the inner side of the ring.

What Is A Ring Size Chart

A ring size chart is a chart that contains all the ring sizes available to the customer. As every person’s size is not the same when it comes to wearing rings, you need an authentic ring size chart to measure the finger before the purchase/order of a ring. The customer is more satisfied with the seller’s products if the product, in this case, the ring fits them well. The ideal ring size chart has all the sizes described clearly from which the customer can understand the sizing.

What Are The Sizes

The ring sizes usually differ from person to person. Since every person is unique, the sizing of the ring is essential to determine before purchasing. The sizes available range from 48.7mm of the circumference with the inside diameter of the ring as 15.5mm to 69.1mm of the circumference with an inside diameter of 22mm. There are 33 ring sizes available that are further interpreted separately according to the European, UK, and US standards. These 3 standards are widely used worldwide. There are many other standards with which jewelry makers and buyers measure their rings but these 3 standards mentioned below are mostly used.

European Standard

The European standard follows the international organization for standardization’s ring sizing in terms of inner circumference in millimeters. This type of sizing is used in countries such as Continental Europe, Scandinavia, Belgium, Germany, France, and Austria. This method requires measuring the ring size with a ring stick that has defined characteristics. It helps in manufacturing and specifies the designation of the ring’s size. The jewelers use a ring size chart and a finger gauge set made up of each ring size available with the jeweler. The sizes are measured in millimeters and directly correspond to the outer circumference and inner circumference of the finger gauge.

UK Standard

In countries like Ireland, the UK, and Australia, ring sizes are specified by using an alphabet scale with half sizes. In 1945, the ring sizes were based on the ring inside the diameter in steps of 1/64th inch. It was later updated so that the alphabetical size division equals 1.25mm of circumferential length.

US Standard

The regions of the United States, Canada, and Mexico follow the US Standard of the ring size chart. These ring sizes are specified by using a numerical scale with ¼ steps where whole sizes differ by 0.81mm of internal diameter equivalent to 2.55mm of internal circumference. The US standard is consistent and remains so. There haven’t been any changes done in the standard.

Why A Ring Size Chart Is Important

The ring Size Chart is important because it provides precise information about the different types of ring sizes. The ring needs to fit your finger otherwise it looks as if the ring is loose and not of good quality. You can get an accurate measurement with the help of a ring size chart and avoid any resizing issues that may occur in the future. When you find your true ring size, then you can easily go to buy rings. You can also avoid any losses that can be caused if you do not determine your ring size.
