The world’s richest cricketer is a title that has been given to many different individuals throughout history.

The Forbes Richest 40 List is published twice per year and ranks the wealthiest people in the world.
Sachin Tendulkar, ‘The God of Cricket’ is the richest cricketer in the world. Tendulkar was born in Mumbai on April 24, 1973. Although Tendulkar attends a Hindu school named Sharadashram, he is a great follower of Islam.

Sachin Tendulkar’s Family

He is married to Anjali Tendulkar and has one son named Sara and a daughter named Arthi. Anjali is the daughter of former Indian cricketer Karnam Malleswaram Pillai. Sachin and Anjali have been married since 1998 and are still together.
He is the first and only Indian cricketer to score 100 international centuries, including test matches and One Day Internationals. He scored his first century at the age of 17 years old against England in 1989.

Overall, he has scored 50,000 runs in international cricket across all formats. His highest test score is 248 runs which he achieved against England in 2002. His highest ODI score was 183 against the same opponent in 2005.
In addition, he has scored more runs as an opener (11,773) than any other player in ODI history. He is also the only player to score over 300 runs against each of the ten test-playing nations. He holds numerous international records including the most number of wins by an individual in both ODI and test cricket.

On December 30, 2011, Tendulkar retired from professional cricket at the age of 40 years old after playing his 200th Test match against West Indies in Mumbai.

He is a recipient of many national awards, including the prestigious Padma Vibhushan in 2008. He also holds every cricket record available including being the most prolific run-scorer in international cricket, the most number of centuries in test matches and ODI matches, and being the only cricketer to score more than 15,000 runs across all formats of international cricket. Sachin Tendulkar was selected to be part of the ICC Hall Of Fame on June 8, 2013. In 2014, Tendulkar was named a member of the Order of Australia for his contributions to international cricket.

His total earnings outside of cricket were US$22 million (₹1.31 billion) during this period making him one of the top-ten-highest-paid retired athletes in the world.

ESPN even considers Tendulkar as ‘The greatest Test player of all-time’. Calcutta Times rated him among the world’s greatest people and he was listed in “Time”‘s 100 list in June 2005.
In various years, he has been voted as one of the top 10 players on different occasions. He was ranked second place in BBC’s poll for the Greatest Sports Personality, behind Michael Jordan. He was placed third in the same poll in 1999 and was voted 15th in “The Sporting News”‘s 100 Greatest Sports Figures list. In 2008, he was listed as the second greatest sportsman of all time by “Empire” magazine.

He is also ranked number one in ESPN’s Indian Player of the Century. He is also the first-ever cricketer who scored a deal of 100 crores after being the brand ambassador of MRF tyres. This is the new contract given to him by his company RR Partners as brand ambassador.
Tendulkar has been known for his inspirational speeches and quotes throughout his career. For example, he said ‘no matter how difficult the situation is, you should always perform and not let the situation beat you.’
He has also mentioned that he is willing to do anything to prove himself and that hard work always pays off.
According to him, “The most important thing is to fight hard and work hard. This is the secret of success.”

He is known to be a calm person, who always finds time for his family and friends. A recent example was when he took a break from Test cricket to participate in India’s victory at the 2010 ICC Champions Trophy.
As a schoolboy cricketer, Tendulkar played only cricket, as he was never allowed to play any other sport. He started training as a part-time professional to earn money but decided against it after his first year because it was too hard on his family.
In the final, Tendulkar scored a 25-ball 44 to give India an unassailable lead of 8 runs.

The West Indies were bowled out for around 87 runs and India won by nine wickets to win their first ever ICC Champions Trophy. Tendulkar was named the Man of the Match for his bowling performance in that match.

It was also Tendulkar’s third Man of the Match award in a row after also winning one in 1997 and 1998, both times against Pakistan. Tendulkar won his fourth Man of the Match award in 2007 against Australia.
In many countries, Tendulkar is regarded as the greatest living Test batsman. Later in 2008, he was one of five finalists for induction into the International Cricket Council’s Hall of Fame, along with Ricky Ponting, Jacques Kallis and Joel Garner, but lost to Australian leg spinner Shane Warne in his final vote by a margin of two votes. In 2010, Tendulkar was selected to be part of ICC Hall of Fame.
