YouTube Music starts rolling out its personalized end-of-year Recaps

by Sonal Shukla

For the past few years, YouTube has been a prime destination for music videos. There are so many artists, genres and styles to explore. Users can also follow things they like on their personalized homepage or playlist lists and discover new content that way. Now you’ll be able to stream these year-end recaps of most popular songs from the last year, with relevant titles about what is featured in each video such as “TOP 50 SONGS OF 2017”. youtube subscribers

What The Apps’ Text Says: “We hand-curated videos of the most highly viewed songs of the year”

What The Images Say: (Image 1) Is a YouTube playlist, which means its easy to navigate through. The title and description for this playlist pretty much tells it all: “Most popular songs of 2017”. (Image 2) Shows a TV on Youtube, which means that it’s probably a video from an artist. With that in mind, the artist of this video is ‘PlayList’. It further states that “The most popular songs of 2017 as chosen by YouTube”, which means that it’s made by YouTube.

What The Videos Say: The video starts with a compilation of a bunch of videos which were uploaded on the same day, December 22, 2017.

When The Changes Take Place: December 21st, 2018 – January 7th, 2019 . Starting from the date the article was published (December 12th).

How To Implement It: Create a playlist on your channel named: “XXX’s TOP 10 Videos of 2018”. (Example) You’ll still have to manually add videos in your playlist. And that’s pretty much it. I’m not sure if they’ll include trending music videos from YouTube’s homepage, but knowing YouTube well enough, they probably will.

The story here is pretty much the same as with their last year end recap. Keep in mind that this is just a personal theory, so if I’m wrong, please let me know in the comment section below.

Update #1: According to a comment on YouTube Creators’ twitter post, they said that the playlists are going to be daily playlists. Meaning that you’ll have to make 10 of them, one for each day of the first week (from December 21st to December 28th).

Update #2: According to a comment on YouTube Creators’ Twitter, they said that they are working on it. And will probably add new ones to it every single day until Friday, January 5th. But they have not confirmed the post yet.

So, This is the end of this Youtube inspired story.
