How to make a great resume?

To make a great resume, you have to follow some steps. The steps are mentioned below.

Make it crisp – On average, the recruiter has 10 to 15 seconds to go through each resume. So, if you have mentioned some crucial skills in the end then might be the recruiter will not go up to the last page. That’s why making a crisp, to-the-point resume is very important. Highlight your achievements – If you’ve done some internship or you’re an experienced candidate. Always, mentioned what you’ve achieved there, how you solved their problems, etc. For a fresher, if you haven’t done any internship, then put out the things you’ve learned, mention your cgpa, your extracurricular activities like anchoring, singing, photography, etc.

Mention the problems that you’ve faced – If you’ve done some internships or you’re an experienced candidate, then always mention what problems you’ve faced during your internships or your previous jobs and you’ve dealt with those problems and come up with the solutions. For example, imagine yourself as a graphic designer and you’ve faced a problem like your team member doesn’t do the job in time. Then how you’ve dealt with that team member gets the most out of it.  That’s how you need to put a short summary of how you’ve dealt with the problems. Now, for the freshers, if you don’t do any internship then you need to tell that how you’ve helped your college by just maintaining its blogs, etc. How you’ve dealt with some problems during your studies and how you’ve overcome those problems. That’s how you need to put a short summary of how you handle your problems.

Provide links – If you have got an interest in photography, videography, content creation, etc. Then put out the links to your Instagram page, youtube channel, etc. This showcases that you aren’t only focused on studies. Apart from that, you’ve some other skills too.Putting out the links shows that you are honest. You aren’t afraid of anything by just not hiding anything. Honesty – If you don’t have that particular skill set that is needed for the job then don’t lie in your resume that you know that skillset. Eventually, it’ll be found out that you don’t have that particular skill set, then not only for that job position, for any further job position that will occur in the future you will not be eligible for that. So, never lie in your resume. Most of the companies will train you for that particular job, so never lie in your resume.

Do your research – Always do your research before sending your resume to the company. Read their job description carefully, to understand what the company is is exactly looking for. It will increase your chances. We’ve quite talked about the things to follow to make a great resume. Now, let’s talk about the things you shouldn’t do.

Things to avoid in resume Follow the mistakes mentioned below. Don’t do these mistakes. If you’ve done this mistake then the chances of your getting a job will be less. Don’t make a lengthy resume – As discussed earlier, the recruiter doesn’t have that much time to go through the resumes. So, make sure that you’ve mentioned every important piece of information about you on the first page itself. If you’ve to have extended your resume then add one more page to it but make sure that you don’t go beyond that.

Don’t put too much of personal information – The recruiter who is gonna interview has no interest in you. They are here just to hire you. So, don’t put too much personal information like you love to sleep, eat biriyani, watch TV shows and movies, etc. No one is interested to know that kind of information. Make it crisp, if you’ve any hobby like photography or videography then you can write it down in your resume. Because that is not just a hobby but also a talent that you have.

Don’t put obvious reasons – Don’t state your obvious reasons for wanting jobs like money, your problems with your previous boss, etc. This showcases that you desperately want a job not, particularly this job. This just gives a negative impression of you.
